What is a brand kit for social media posts?
A brand kit is the short list of things that make a post recognisably yours before anyone reads the name: your colours, your fonts, your logo and the kind of images you use. Settle them once and every post gets faster to make, because the decisions are already made.
| Part | What to settle on | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Colours | Two or three main colours, plus a light and a dark neutral for text and backgrounds. | Keep one colour for the thing you want noticed (a date, a price, a button) and use it the same way every time. |
| Fonts | One font for headings and one for body text. One font in two weights works too. | Headings have to read on a phone, at a glance, mid-scroll. Fewer fonts look more deliberate. |
| Logo | Your usual logo, plus a version that works on dark backgrounds. | A logo that disappears on a dark photo is worse than no logo. Put it in the same corner each time. |
| Images | A small set of your own photos: you, your product, your space, your work. | Real photos of your business build more trust than stock, and they’re ready when you need one fast. |
How do I get my brand kit into Solo Social?
You don’t have to build it by hand. Start from the website you already have:
- Paste your website’s address. Solo Social looks at your site and finds your colours, fonts and logo.
- Check what it found. Keep what’s right, change what isn’t, and upload your own font files if your fonts are custom.
- Make a dark-background logo. Create a version of your logo for dark photos and backgrounds, so it’s ready when you need it.
- Add your brand images. Keep your own photos with the kit. Alt text is suggested for each one, so your images are described for people using screen readers.
What can I do in the post editor?
It’s a full editor, built into Solo Social, so you don’t have to switch tools to make a post:
- Text for headings, body copy and details like dates and prices.
- Photos and your own uploads, alongside your brand images.
- Graphic elements and backgrounds to frame the message.
- Layers, so you can arrange what sits in front of what.
- Resizing for different post sizes, without rebuilding the design.
How do I make on-brand social media graphics quickly?
In Solo Social, open the Brand tab and apply your brand kit in one click: headings, body text, shapes, buttons and logos take your brand fonts, colours and logo. Then adjust anything you like.
Whatever tool you use, these habits keep graphics on brand and quick to make:
- One message per graphic. If it needs a paragraph, that belongs in the caption.
- Big, short headings. Check the design at phone size before you post; if you have to squint, it’s too small.
- Same logo, same place. Pick a corner and stick to it, so a run of posts looks like a set.
- Strong contrast. Dark text on light, light text on dark. Text over a busy photo needs a solid shape behind it.
- Leave room at the edges. Apps crop previews and lay buttons over the bottom of vertical posts.
- Write alt text. Describe what the image shows and repeat any important words that are in it.
What size should a social media post be?
Most posts use one of four shapes. Design for the shape first, then resize: in Solo Social you can resize a design for a different post size without starting again.
| Shape | Ratio | Common size (px) | Where it’s used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Square | 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | Feed posts almost everywhere. The safe default. |
| Portrait | 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 | Instagram and Facebook feeds, where it takes up more of the screen. |
| Vertical | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | Stories, Reels and TikTok. |
| Landscape | 1.91:1 | 1200 × 628 | Link previews and wide posts on LinkedIn, Facebook and X. |
Platforms change their specs from time to time, so check the current size before a big campaign.
Can I save my own templates?
Yes. Save any design as your own reusable template. Make your event announcement once, save it, and next time you only change the details. Your templates keep your brand, so a series of posts looks like it belongs together.
What happens when a design is finished?
Export and download it to post anywhere. Or choose Use in a post and the design opens in Solo Social’s post composer, ready to schedule across 8 platforms with the rest of your campaign. Nothing is posted until you approve it.
How much does the Design Tools plan cost?
The Design Tools plan is $15/month. It includes the design studio, your brand kit, export and your own templates. It doesn’t include social posting and scheduling: download your designs and post them yourself.
Full pricing for the other plans comes at launch. Solo Social is in early access: join the waitlist for early access and launch pricing.
